Healing After Service: How Triad Psych Supports Veterans with Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy

Transitioning from military service to civilian life can be a complex and emotionally challenging journey. For many veterans, experiences of trauma, loss, and high-stress environments leave lasting emotional and psychological impacts. At Triad Psych, we are committed to helping veterans navigate these challenges through culturally responsive, evidence-based psychotherapy tailored to their unique needs.

Understanding the Veteran Experience

Veterans often face mental health challenges such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Recognizing the unique experiences of veterans, our clinicians are trained to provide trauma-informed care that addresses these specific issues.  Shalanda Williams is a West Point graduate and served in Korea.  John Prucha is also an Army veteran and later a defense contractor, serving in the middle east and also possesses several certifications for treating complex war trauma.  Terrance Putter is a veteran of a foreign military.  Dave Glick, was a DEA Area Clinician for 20 years and was the clinical lead for the DEA Trauma Team for the Atlanta Field Division and has provided rapid trauma interventions globally in that role.  Dave also has extensive experience helping veterans transition back to civilian roles after long deployments.

Evidence-Based Therapies for Lasting Impact

At Triad Psych, we utilize Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment designed to help individuals process and reframe distressing thoughts related to trauma. This approach focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful and inaccurate beliefs that have formed as a result of trauma, such as self-blame or mistrust. As well we take a differential approach to trauma work, directing the interventions specifically to where the patient is at in their trauma episode/envelope.

Culturally Responsive Care

We understand that veterans come from diverse backgrounds and experiences and so do our clinicians.  We ensure that the therapy is sensitive to each individual’s cultural and social context.

We have several offices in Metro Atlanta and we offer both in-person and teletherapy sessions to accommodate the varying needs of veterans. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where veterans can work through their experiences and build resilience.
