As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have had opportunities to work in a variety of settings and with all different groups of people. My professional journey has led me to work in the college setting at KSU as a Case manager, at Mercy Care, where I focused my time working with the homeless and insured populations with depression and severe trauma, and even as a Hospice Social Worker, where I spent some very hard but beautiful days because of the amazing people in my care and their fascinating narratives.
I typically connect well with children (8+), adolescents and adults struggling with a range of difficulties -depression, anxiety, neurological disorders, gender dysphoria, and those experiencing divorce (parent and/or child). Moreover, one of my passions in this field is to help clients with symptoms of Gender Dysphoria (i.e. social anxiety, depression, gender and sexual identity confusion/curiosity). I spent 2 years at KSU researching the multitude of possible symptoms, causes, and treatments available to those experiencing gender dysphoria. I would be honored to advocate for you or your loved one’s rights. I can help you process those confusing, sometimes frightening, feelings of not quite (or AT ALL) feeling like whom you see in the mirror, matches how you feel on the inside. We can work together on a treatment plan that fits your goals and needs. While life is challenging for everyone in different ways, societal judgment and lack of awareness can add to the stresses that so many transgender/gender non-conforming individuals have to face. I am committed to helping you navigate your journey in a safe, supportive environment.
While my experience is vast, my purpose is simple: to help you find the peace you wish to find by reaching your goal(s). I often utilize a strengths-based and motivational interviewing style in treatment; other times I use a more goal focused therapy like behavioral therapy to help with ADHD, ADS and Social Anxiety. I have utilized the Matching Game during therapy with children dx with ADHD -I have seen its effectiveness at improving focus, and more importantly, it’s fun! I often add outside play, sports and walking the park to therapy to model & encourage exercise as it helps clear the mind, body and spirit.
